The Shared Environmental Information System (SEIS) is a collaborative initiative of the European Commission and the European Environment Agency (EEA) to establish together with the Member States an integrated and shared EU-wide environmental information system. This system will aim to tie in better all existing data gathering and information flows related to EU environmental policies and legislation. SEIS will be based on technologies such as the internet and satellite systems and thus will make environmental information more readily available and easier to understand to policy makers and the public.
The SEISnet Community in epractice aims to provide environmental information actors with a communication platform where members may share opinions, monitor technology evolution, identify and spread best practices, promote consensus on standards, shape an Environment Community in Europe, prove benefits from modern shared environmental information systems and eEnvironment services and promote innovation for eEnvironment/eParticipation services.
DISCLAIMER: The SEISnet Community in epractice is a communication open platform; the information published and the views expressed in the SEISnet Community pages may not represent the official position of the Commission.
